Sultan River Engagement Session in Washington | Sam and Tyler

If you’re new here, I have to let you know that I am a giant proponent for dog engagement sessions. Not only are they part of your family and should absolutely be included, but they can also give you a chance to feel more at ease in front of the camera! (and I get to smoosh their little face the entire time!) When I started chatting with Sam and Tyler, we knew we had to include their German Shepherd, Milo. By including your dog in your session, this also means we need to find a dog-friendly location to go to! Luckily for them, living in the state of Washington provides a bountiful backyard of gorgeous locations to visit, with most of them being dog friendly.

After much consideration, we chose to have their engagement session in Sultan! Specifically, at a section of the Sultan River. The Sultan River is a river near Snohomish, Washington, and is a tributary to the Skykomish River, joining at the town of Sultan, Washington. Home to one official brewery and several up-and-coming neighborhoods, Sultan is just enough off the beaten path to have a ton of incredible locations for a frolicking dog to romp. And romp he did.

For their Sultan River engagement session, Sam and Tyler wore matching cowboy boots and casual but cute outfits. Sam donned a white summer dress, while Tyler kept it cool with a black polo shirt. After a few pictures walking on the road, we headed down to the water, where Milo promptly got his drink on. Luckily, the beautiful views were not far from the street, and we didn’t have to walk very far before finding some picturesque locations for these two.

I loved getting to spend the afternoon with these two (and Milo!) and getting to hear about their upcoming wedding. To make sure that Milo is included in their big day, Sam and Tyler have hired a dog handler who will bring him to their venue for portraits after the ceremony. This is also one of my recommendations to couples who want to include their dog in their day but are not sure how to facilitate it! I can’t wait to hear all about it, but also to hopefully photograph another amazing Sultan River engagement session. Let me know if this is somewhere you would want to go (especially if you want to bring your dog!).
