Winter Engagement Session in Lake Geneva, Wi | Lisa and Kalleb

There is not much I love more than snow, Disneyland for sure, but snow is so far up there. So when Lake Geneva had a snowstorm, I was so unbelievably happy that I had the chance to photograph Lisa and Kalleb when the snow was fresh for their engagement session. These two held up like absolute champs in the 20 degree weather, and it is just extra special that we will be coming back to this very spot to photograph their wedding at the The Riviera Ballroom. What I absolutely love about Lisa and Kalleb’s proposal, is it almost happened at the exact same place they had their first date; to see the Christmas lights at the Cincinnati zoo. But with Lisa zipping through the evening, “No marriage proposals took place at the zoo that evening — at least not involving me and Kalleb.”

My heart started to race. I saw him reach for something in his pocket and I thought, “Is he really going to propose right now?” All I could manage to verbalize was some sort of muttered “what” — and then I chugged my glass of wine. I’m not really certain how the rest of the night progressed. All I remember is seeing a ring and covering my mouth in absolute shock. I also shook my head “no” as I put the ring on, which probably sent a big mixed signal.

Other than my reaction, I virtually blacked out. I have no idea what Kalleb even said to me.

It will be quite the story to tell our children someday. “Well... Mommy doesn’t really remember what happened, you’ll have to ask Dad.”
