What is known by locals as the mysterious ‘Pirate Tower’, ironically does not have very mysterious origins. Built in the 1920’s as an enclosed staircase to the home above, the tower is thought to have been influenced by its’ original owners love of painting, and of the sea that he built his home next to. The true magic of the ‘Pirate Tower’ truly began after being sold to retired naval captain, Harold Kendrick. He shared stories of the towers pirate origins with local children, encouraging them to search the crevices and cracks at its base for gold! While no child found the mysterious treasure Mr. Kendrick hinted at, many a lucky visitor would find hidden coins.
