Snowy Wedding at The Manor House in Littleton, Colorado | Alex and Wyatt

It was late May, the perfect time for a beautiful spring wedding. Only, Mother Nature had other plans—she wanted to wear white for Alex’s big day, too. That’s right. It snowed! What a typical Colorado thing to happen! While a spring wedding day turned snowy might sound like a bride’s worst nightmare, Alex took it in stride. She even had a fantastic outfit swap to go along with it! Alex and Wyatt’s beautifully snowy wedding at The Manor House in Littleton, CO, was the perfect mix of class and Colorado mountains!

While planning the perfect wedding day isn’t rocket science (although it sure feels like that sometimes), Alex and Wyatt would have been equipped to tackle it even if it was! This pair of rocket scientists met through their job, and after a few years of dating, they got engaged in Yellowstone National Park in front of the Old Faithful geyser. Wyatt wanted to show Alex that she’s his “old faithful,” and is always there for him no matter what.

The morning started with a power outage in the bride’s Airbnb, thanks to the snowstorm that had rolled through the night before. With half a foot of fresh snow on the ground, we headed to the bridesmaids’ hotel for hair and makeup. I love capturing the unique personalities in a bridal party. Some mornings are quiet and contemplative, and others are rowdy and full of laughter. With this group, I couldn’t stop grinning as they ordered breakfast, traded jokes, and even weighed in on each other’s local Tinder matches. In the church bridal suite with her mom, Alex slipped into her sophisticated Aire Barcelona dress. The two shared a quiet moment together before the ceremony began.

Once we’d finished getting ready, we headed into the Good Shepherd Catholic Church for the ceremony. The church, surprisingly, had no snow on the ground, and the sun had come out! So, we filed inside, excited for the ceremony to come.

Waiting at the other end of the aisle, Wyatt was dressed in a sharp navy blue suit. But don’t let that elegant exterior fool you! This fun-loving fellow had custom stitched in an homage to his favorite team, the Chargers! He even wore a pair of Chargers socks to match! The groomsmen also wore navy, and the bridesmaids carried light coral and white flowers, which made a beautiful contrast. Alex’s goal was a wedding that was “classic and elegant, with fun, bright touches.” Her color choices totally nailed the vibe.

The ceremony beautifully blended tradition and custom touches. They incorporated religious readings and hymns but also chose to write custom vows to each other. It made for such an emotional experience, and after they were pronounced man and wife, we headed off to the reception in The Manor House. This white, classically-styled house reminded Alex of the architecture where she grew up in Virginia. She chose it because “it has beautiful grounds with a neat mix of foothill and city views!”

The rich tones of the library inside The Manor House perfectly contrasted with the light flowers from Honeycomb Flowers. It was a perfect spot for portraits, and the cozy atmosphere allowed Alex and Wyatt some alone time to fully enter into the day's magic together. Well…a few bridesmaids couldn’t resist peeking in the windows, of course, but Alex sticking her tongue out at them when she noticed made for some adorable photos!

The reception was a total showstopper. Alex and her dad danced to “My Girl,” and Wyatt and his mom did a choreographed dance to “Here for a Good Time.” Alex even got to show some of her ballet skills with her choreographed dance to “Stand By Me” with Wyatt.

The evening concluded with a snowy outdoor portrait session. Alex wore a classy white jacket (Wyatt said made her look like a First Lady) over her dress that she bought a few days before because of the weather change. I was so thrilled that they were up for pictures in the snow because it’s not every day that you get to incorporate snowy portraits into a spring wedding gallery! These two love the outdoors, so I know they loved the chance to include the famous Colorado landscape in their photos.

Whether your Colorado spring wedding is 70 degrees and sunny or unexpectedly 30 degrees and snow-covered like Alex and Wyatt’s (there really is no predicting out here!), it’s sure to be beautiful. And I’d love to document it! Get in touch at my contact form, and let’s dive into your wedding photography vision.
