Fall Vasona Park Family Session | Nehrenz Family

I was so excited to get to see Emily and Matt again after photographing their wedding several years prior. We met up at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos, California, and were welcomed by a burst of colorful trees. Fall is such a special time, and definitely one of the best times to do a family session! Something I loved that Emily asked me during our time together was if I photographed a lot of my past couples and their growing families. This is something I absolutely do! I don’t make it a point to advertise family sessions and instead work on a pure referral basis or exclusively with past couples.

Vasona Lake County Park is 152 acres of trails, water features, and weekly events for the neighborhood. It was so close to the holidays when we got together that the park was decked out in Christmas lights, ready for their Christmas parade the following weekend.

I loved getting to hang out with the Nehrenz family and meet their rambunctious daughter. One of my favorite things about family sessions is just letting kids run around and be kids. This session was no exception, and their daughter definitely wanted to embrace my philosophy that running around makes beautiful pictures! She was not only keen on trying to chase the local bird life but also on picking up every branch with leaves and presenting it to me as a gift.

Luckily for me, this resulted in some of the cutest photos humanly possible! I can’t wait to photograph this growing family again next time and see what other adventures we can get into.
