Megan and James are two beautiful people who I’ve known since High School, and probably further back than that. I had the honor of photographing them for an anniversary shoot in the woods, so when I got a call that they were pregnant I couldn’t imagine a more perfect couple to be parents. Megan wanted somewhere beautiful and green for her photos, and we were so lucky to find Negro Bar, a part of the Folsom Lake State Recreational Area in Folsom, Ca. I can’t wait to see what this little boy grows up into, and how cute baby Luke will be.
Melissa and Martin had a beautiful night wedding at the Vizcaya in Sacramento, Ca! Filled with winter touches like an adult hot chocolate bar, and neutral colors, the whole evening also combined Martin's Filipino culture and their love of nature and the outdoors. They wanted to keep things simple and elegant, to compliment their minimalist tastes. Mixing in greenery with their neutral palette, the whole wedding was just perfectly complimented the historical mansion venue of Vizcaya. Built in the 1890’s, the mansion has several locations for ceremonies, and a beautiful reception hall. I have some quotes from Melissa spread throughout the photos, so scroll down to see what she had to say about all the beauty of their wedding!
”Enjoy every moment because the day will fly by and be over before you know it.” - Melissa
It is the year of the Stahl’s; with them getting married earlier March 2017, adopting Mr. Archie a few months before hand, and now 7 months later being pregnant with a gorgeous baby boy. We met back up at High Hill Ranch up in Placerville, Ca for Marlee’s maternity shoot; not just so I could buy an Apple Pie for Thanksgiving, but also because the sunsets you get amidst the apple trees are just gorgeous. It was such a pleasure getting to hang with their family again, and I swear Ava is growing like a weed. Still a dancer, and so many more sentences being said. I love this family, and can’t wait to meet their little boy Kylan whenever he decides to come.
What I absolutely love about Chicago is all of the amazing people you get to meet on a day to day basis. Esmeralda and Mark met in a dance troupe, and now not only continue to dance together, but are dance partners for the Legacy Dance Company Pro Team in Chicago, IL. These two were such an amazing pleasure to get to photograph their engagement around Chicago, starting at the Chicago Riverwalk, and continuing over to the Milton Lee Olive Park. At the end of the night, I was stoked to get to see some of their award winning dance moves in front of the setting sun.
Kassidy and Andrew were married at the Carondelet House in Los Angeles, Ca, and the whole night was full of beautiful unique details that I swoon over every time I think about it. To start with, Kassidy and Andrew decided to have an evening wedding, starting the actual celebration just as the sun was setting. Their ceremony also started and ended with readings from "The Awesome Book of Love," which mentions dinosaurs, which I am an absolute sucker for. I had to look it up after the fact just to be sure the amazingness I though I had heard. The whole things was also Spanish inspired, a theme that expanded into the Cuatro Caminos Arts & Flamenco group that entertained both the wedding guests during the ceremony and cocktail hour, but also taught dances. The whole evening also had a giant focus on food, with not only a pizza truck arriving at the end of the night, but homemade salsa as their wedding favors. I scattered quotes from the amazing Kassidy throughout this blog, and you’re going to love her as much as I do after you read it all!
Audrey and Dwight traveled from their home state of Oregon to get married where they grew up in Southern California, and the historic Bard Mansion in Port Hueneme, CA. made for the perfect venue for everyone to join them. Besides just wearing her Nana’s beautiful dress for the better part of the day, (scroll down to see a side by side shot of Audrey and one of her Nana from her wedding day!) her friends and family came together to help make the entire day special. Every aspect of the wedding day was put together by various family members, from the flowers on down to the decor and nothing could have come out more beautiful.
Alex and Jon had an amazing destination wedding at Eden Gardens in Moorpark, CA. I absolutely love shooting at Eden Gardens, because the whole place is just so gorgeous. Between the fountain behind the ceremony site, the greenery, and twinkle lights at night; it’s always just perfect. Traveling from Chicago, IL where their friends and family live in California, these two had a picture perfect garden wedding full of surprises. Between gifting all of their bridal party Marvel themed robes that they wore during the reception, to being a belly dancer; Alex and Jon made sure everyone felt included and loved during their day. Not to mention all the tears that were shed by not only them, but family members alike.
I can’t believe how fast they grow up, and Jackson is officially 2 years old here. The Bernatowicz decided to go to the Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach, Ca where they recently bought a home. Of course the adorable Holly was included, and this was the year of trucks for Jackson. We’re a little bit scared of the water, but giggle pretty frequently. Go watch him start to grow up, because it couldn’t be cuter. 2015 Newborn 2015 6 Months 2015 1 Year
It’s not every day that you get to attend a Cinco de Mayo wedding celebration, and the one hosted by Stephanie and Paul was perfect. Held at The Walnut Grove in Moorpark, Ca, their festive colors of gold, pink and orange paired perfectly with the shots of Tequila all of their guests were given as wedding favors. Not to mention the cookies they gave away with every seating; it’s hard to not love the party that was held on May 5th for these two souls in love. I’m so lucky that I was able to meet Stephanie and Paul through several other weddings I had photographed in the past, including Lindsay & Bryan’s anniversary, and Megan & Jonathan’s wedding.
I absolutely love Hailey and Ryan, and met them when I had the oppurtunity to photograph their wedding back in 2015 in Santa Barbara, Ca. Every interaction between these two is the epitome of so much fun, and not a moment is without laughter or the occasional joke. When I heard they were pregnant with a baby girl, I was so stoked to get to photograph their maternity and spend a day laughing with them again.
”I feel blessed to have captured these special moments of my pregnancy and I will forever look back at these photos and remember the woman I was before my whole world changed for the better. “ - Hailey
Angelina and Jordan have the cutest engagement story I’ve ever heard, and it is probably because their love started before they were 8 years old. Angelina and Jordan knew each other through their families, and played together on the very same ranch that Jordan proposed on 20 years later. What makes all of this even more special, is that Angelina is also a photographer! I absolutely love getting to photograph other photographer’s and it is easy to say that my little photographer heart soured pretty high as we explored their gorgeous property. It was also only fitting that we included their gorgeous puppy Asher in their engagement photos, as he was there for the proposal.
I am absolutely in love with everything about Blyth and Danny’s beautiful, offbeat wedding. Blyth and Danny are definitely two individuals who beat to their own drum, and that drum just happens to be a very Nintendo colored one. Irish born Blyth dreamed of being a princess at her wedding, and with the picturesque Eden Gardens as their venue choice, and her Maggie Soterro gown, she achieved it. What sets her apart in her princess dreams, was it just happened to be Princess Zelda. Blyth and Danny have custom designed concept rings; Blyth's being in the shape of a "Heart Container" from The Legendof Zelda games, and Danny's being adorned with the tri-force.Their wedding cake was The Legendof Zelda themed as well, with light up 'rupees' made out of rock candy, the main unit of currency in the game, and the guests were served chocolate rupees as their wedding favor.
Kelsey and Jordan got married in Asheville, North Carolina, so it was such an amazing honor to get to do their engagement photos in Chicago, IL where they live! We decided on Millennium Park in the heart of the city, as the two live downtown- and absolutely love it. As unpredictable as the weather in Chicago is, we were super lucky to get a clear winter day with the sun peaking through the buildings. Also as popular as this spot is for weddings, we were blessed to get to spend it alone. These two lovebirds were an absolute treat to get to spend the afternoon with, and I cannot imagine a more gorgeous couple to get to tie the knot together.
Elizabeth and Caleb have been married for 10 blissful years, having met in high school and just recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary. They had planned on renewing their vows as well as having photos taken to commemorate the occasion, but through unforeseen life circumstances the plans fell through and it was put off. Elizabeth is a local photographer to the Flagstaff area and Caleb is a firefighter, so their schedules allowed for us to make this occasion the something special they both deserved. Lucky for us, the morning of the 25th the Grand Canyon released that the South Rim would be open for visitors and we were greeted with snow capped peaks and 18-degree weather.
Paola & Zach dreamed of a destination wedding in Costa Rica where Paola was raised, and their dreams came incredibly true surrounded by their closest friends and family. What made the day extra special, was the random tropical storm that rolled in as quickly as it rolled out. Drenching everyone to the bone, it cleared up just in time for their ceremony to be had in front of their beach location.
Adi and Edgar had the most beautiful wedding at Wedgewood Weddings Sterling Hills in Camarillo, Ca. On a sunny spring day in March, they were able to tie the knot with their friends and family. This wedding was a perfect addition to theirSan Francisco engagement session at Muir Woodsseveral months prior. What made this day even better, was the stunning sunset we were treated to near the end of the night. Wedgewood Sterling Hills made for the perfect hilly backdrop to gaze upon the setting sun, and truly appreciate this new journey Adi and Edgar were embarking upon.
Brittany and Johnny were married at The Gardens at Los Robles, in Thousand Oaks, Ca and their wedding was just absolutely beautiful. When they celebrated their 1 year anniversary, they wanted a photo shoot at the same venue that they got married at exactly a year later! The day was full of some amazing surprises; starting with Johnny bringing their wedding vows. Something that Brittany did not know about! After re-enacting their ceremony site, their first kiss, and even a sunset picture next to the lake we called it a day. What both Johnny and I found out later though, was that Brittany was pregnant on this anniversary with a baby boy! I’m pretty sure surprise maternity shoots are my new favorite things.
Diana and William chose the San Luis Obispo, Ca area for their beautiful engagement session, since that’s where all of their memories meeting were made. Diana is the most incredible map sleuth, and found not only an amazing forest to shoot at, but also the most stunning beach I’ve ever seen. We started at Los Osos Oaks State Reserve jumping near trees and around the occasional slab of poison oak, and moved onto the Montaña de Oro State Park. The whole session was such a dream and their love shown through with every image and cuddle.
The Bernatowicz are the definition of not only adorable, but some of the sweetest people you will ever meet. I have had the pleasure of photographing Jackson since he was born, at this overwhelming cute af newborn session. I’m combining his 6 month and 1 year shoot since they were pretty short. But I am absolutely in love with watching this little boy get bigger. Not to mention getting to see their adorable dog Holly again. Can everyone please include their beloved animals every time the have a family photoshoot?
The only thing missing from Katie and Brian’s beautiful spring wedding at Limoneria Ranch in Santa Paula, Ca was their Siberian Husky Dakota. Dakota was able to join us for their engagement session at Placerita Canyon State Park, CA, but would have been just too excited for all of their family and guests. Founded in 1893, Limoneria Ranch is smack dab in the middle of Santa Paula’s “Citrus Capital of the World”, and is the county’s largest producer of oranges, avocados, and lemons. If the venue couldn’t be any cooler for a wedding, guests are allowed to walk around the orange grove and take some home! But nothing could have made the night more special than the love between these two, and all of these gorgeous emotions.
Marlee and Michael are the definition of a beautiful love story. Girl has no interest in boy, boy thinks girl has too many tattoos, girl accepts the challenge. Fast forward in time with a whirlwind romance, and their family of three is official with an incredible wedding at the Vizcaya Sacramento in California. While we expected rain, and even tented the ceremony just in case, we were instead blessed with sunny skies; and rain that held off till everyone was inside for the party.
I can't believe I spent my last day of 2016 with this gorgeous mama to be with her second daughter. Megan and I were so absolutely blessed with not only finding some snow, but a beautiful roaring river. The temperature was cold, and Megan battled the snow for her maternity shoot like a champion. We even were able to get a peak of sunset while shooting.
I am absolutely in love with Jennifer and Ryan's wedding at the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, in California. Not only was her beaded Justin Alexander dress absolutely stunning, but this was my first Egyptian ceremony! We may have chased the sun to finish their portraits at Malibou Lake, but in the end we were able to embrace the beautiful environment. Not to mention them renting a gorgeous car for the drive from the ceremony to the reception. I can't wait to see where these two end up in their lives, and I'm so happy to have been a part of their beautiful union.
I never knew that I would get a second opportunity to savor the beauty of Muir Woods National Monument on the edge of San Francisco, Ca until Adi and Edgar mentioned that it was where they wanted their engagement photos. I was first introduced to this location by a couple last year, Alexis and Guy, and it was such a treat getting to experience the park in a different season and find new hidden gems. We were challenged by the sporadic winter light and morning breeze, but Adi and Edgar were amazing to traverse the woods with.
